Here's Another Illustration

Here is another attempt of trying to recreate the genius of Alex Ross. I really like to see how close I can get to drawing something that would one day sell like his artwork. I always add my own little flare on the drawings that I do in order to keep things original. I haven't figured out how to draw things from my own imagination yet. Can anyone help me with that?

Project 2

These are some screenshots for my project 2. I liked doing the research for this project. I found myself reinforcing some things that I knew, and learning some new facts along the way. Although InDesign frustrated me a little bit, I learned a lot from completing this project.

The New Star Trek Movie

I'm not a trekie by any sense of the word. I know the characters and have seen the old television show before. However, I was a fan of the new movie Star Trek. I went to go see it just because I heard that it was good, and it really was. Lots of action, humor, and a good origin story was set up in this movie. I also found out that Andrew Kramer (video copilot) did the main title for the movie in beginning and I think he also did the credits (comparing them to the tutorial on Sure
Target on his website). How many of you have seen the movie? What did you think of it?

After Effects Anyone?

This is one of my favorite websites to visit and learn cool tricks from. Andrew Kramer hosts Video Copilot which is a website that provides outstanding free tutorials for visual effects and motion graphics for Adobe's After Effects. There are some 91 (to date) free tutorials that are actually worth watching and trying for yourself. Here are some of my personal favorites: #'s 88, 86, 82, 80, 77, 68, 60, 50, 43,  40, and 36. Don't just take my word for it, check it out for yourself. If your new to After Effects check out the Basic Training section that provides you with the essential know how's to everything you'll need to know to get started. If your looking for products to help out with enhancing your videos, this is also a great place to pick up some great titles like Riot Gear, Evolution, and Action Essentials. I've got all the products except for two (Pro Scores and the new Action Essentials 2) and they were money well spent. Let me know what you guys think.

If You're Ever in the Area...

Check out the Brandywine River Museum. This museum is located in Chadds Ford, PA and is a wonderful place to take a day trip. It's about a two hour trip but well worth the time. This museum is a little more traditional compared to the American Visionary Art Museum, but just as stimulating. Tell me if you've ever been.

Spider-Man 2

FYI:
If you've ever watched the movie Spider-Man 2, Alex Ross's work is featured in the opening credits.

Another Favorite of mine

Alex Ross is another artist that I try to emulate whenever I draw something. He's an artist that's done cover artwork from Superman to Batman (and everything in between). I love the way he captures the emotions of every one of his characters which adds elements of realism and originality that compliments a style that is unique. I added another drawing of mine on the bottom.

A Great Museum to Visit

I don't know if you've ever been but... you should visit the American Visionary Art Museum at least once in your lifetime. It's a Museum right here in Baltimore, MD. I've been there twice (taken some teachers and students from CHS) and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The exhibits are rather odd, interesting, and breathe taking all at once. Let me know if you've ever been.

One of my favorites

I like to draw in my spare time. I've never really taken any classes or courses to help me out with techniques, I just read some of the books by artists that I like. Lee Hammond is one of my favorite artists. She's based in Kansas City and I own several of her books. She's got a technique that's all her own that I love to try and emulate. My drawing is on top and a scan of her original drawing is on the bottom. Tell me what you think.
