Here's Another Illustration

Here is another attempt of trying to recreate the genius of Alex Ross. I really like to see how close I can get to drawing something that would one day sell like his artwork. I always add my own little flare on the drawings that I do in order to keep things original. I haven't figured out how to draw things from my own imagination yet. Can anyone help me with that?

  1. Nice job! I have the same problem - copying artwork is fun and usually turns out well, but my own illustrations...not so much.

  2. You did great job! You already have your excellent drawing technique! Skech anything on drawing paper come up from your mind. And then you will have a great idea to compose your creation from them.

  3. Wow! I would not worry about using his work as an inspiration. You clearly have significant talent yourself. My imagination works very well, but I have not been able to draw from it yet. It never looks like what is in my head. I have learned to settle for setting up a photo shot that recreates what is in my head. If I tried a pencil instead of a camera it would be scary.

  4. I think you did a great job.
A blank page can be intimidating. Way back when I started drawing things around the house and then added my own flare, that inspired me to carry a sketch pad everywhere so when something would come to me I would sketch it or write down what my idea was and write a detailed description. So when I sat down to draw it would just appear.

  5. You certainly have a lot of hidden art talents...well maybe not so hidden! So far everything I have seen you done has blown me away...you ever think of being a tattoo designer? Your detail is so amazing! Bravo...I think you nailed it! How long have you been drawing for?

  6. I've been drawing since 2002. I kind of stumbled upon it. I've always wanted to know how to draw but I guess I never really sat down and tried it. Well, in 2002 I tried and attempts started looking like the pictures I had in front of me. I've never had any training either. I bought a couple of books to read by some artists that I liked. That's it.
